POLICIES & PROCEDURES
YEAR-ROUND READING!
An ending and a beginning, but reading should never stop!
Our Tri-School Library Homepage has links to lots of reading activities. Databases include Tumblebooks, Epic! (will require a subscription at some point to use), National Geographic for Kids, TrueFlix, etc. Login information provided.
One favorite is TumbleBooks, a library subscription of animated picture books which immerses students in the joys of reading in a format they find engaging. In addition, there are games and videos to accompany many books, there are books in foreign languages, and some ebook chapter books as well (Kate DiCamillo is a featured author and her books are awesome). Access from tri-school library homepage.
TrueFlix is another amazing database for nonfiction resources. Ebooks, videos, websites and projects for a variety of subjects are included.
More than 400 electronic books are available in our Destiny Discover Catalog. Have your student use their computer login for a username and their library number as a password.
Over 1200 audiobooks are currently available via a subscription database for our students. These books are in the Destiny Discover Catalog or alternatively through SORA on the tri-school library homepage.
Explore the Oakland Public Library website for more reading fun.
Happy Reading! Be well.
ADULT ACCOUNTS
Adults may check out 10 books at a time for a two week period, with the ability to self renew once. You may have 10 books on hold.
You must be logged into your library account to place holds.
Username = phone number (with area code, no dashes, no spaces)
Password = last name (all lowercase, if you submitted a hyphenated name, remove hyphen for password)
Once you place a hold request, please wait for an email indicating your request has been filled. Only then may you pick up your books during your regularly scheduled Friday materials pick up time. (In some cases, we may NOT be able to process the request in the same week.)
Books will be placed in your student’s “box” in the MPR.
Please return books to the library cart in the MPR.
Note: returned books are quarantined for 96 hours and will still show up in your account until we have processed them.
STUDENT ACCOUNTS
2nd - 5th grade students have been taught procedures for logging in and placing holds during their synchronous library classes.
Student accounts will be limited to 5 books per student and 5 holds. The adults associated with their account will be emailed when the books are ready for pick up.
You may use adult accounts for K/1 students or the students own accounts. Orienting them to the system will take longer.
QUESTIONS OR BUMPS IN THE ROAD?
We anticipate a bit of a learning curve on our part with this. As such we ask for your patience! Please email Mrs. Ludmer with questions or as issues arise.
